Major Blog Traffic

anshul123 asks:

ho do blogs get so high traffic, i seen people inthis forum claming that there blogs are fetch traffic as high as 5000 visitors daily. does a blog is actuclly capable of such a huge potential. and if yes woh do they acheive it. through ppc or organic methods.

Yaro Replies:

It took me about six months of solid blogging to reach the 1000 visitors per day mark. There are many stories of those who get to 10,000 visitors per day in the same time or only reach 100 per day despite working just as hard.

While there are certainly specific things you can do that will give you the best chance to get high levels of traffic there are key variables that will impact your results -

1. What industry you are working in
2. How large is the marketplace
3. How compelling is your content
4. Are you marketing your blog effectively
5. Plus a bit of good luck too!

Splogging On Blogspot Reduced

Posted on | April 27, 2006 | 1 Comment

In the past six months blogger has reduced the amount of spam on Blog*Spot. One of the tools they’re using is an automatic spam classifier. The risk in using a classifier is that they will mistakenly identify good content as spam. This percentage of false positives is both very low and one that they are reducing by further improving they’re systems.

Because no spam fighting measure is more important to Google than protecting the content of blogger’s users, they’ve implemented a number of safeguards to make sure that any mistakes made by the classifier can be corrected. This involves presenting CAPTCHAs or other warnings to the user with instructions on how to contact support to resolve the issue. Blogger’s support team usually fixes these problems within one business day.

For certain types of blogs - a fraction of those classified - if Blogger receives no response from the user after a significant period of time, they will mark the site for removal. Even when a blog is in this state, the actual content can still be retrieved and the blog restored for a period of several weeks. They’ve also put additional warnings in the Dashboard for blogs in this state so that the problem can be corrected quickly.

The steps they’ve taken have both improved the quality of content on Blog*Spot and improved the Blogger service as a whole. By taking steps like this, They’re able to dedicate more storage, bandwidth and engineering resources to our users instead of spammers.
